Abstract

This disclosure relates to delay compensation for sigma delta modulators. A continuous time delta-sigma modulator is provided comprising: an integrator stage comprising a plurality of integrators; a quantizer receiving an input signal from the integrator stage and outputting a quantizer signal; a global feedback path providing feedback from the quantizer to an integrator stage; a local feedback path connecting the quantizer and a previous integrator of the integrator stage configured to compensate for a delay due to the global feedback path; and a delay compensation circuit. The delay compensation circuit is configured to calculate a delay value based on an additional delay source in the local feedback loop, and to provide the additional delay value to the quantizer in order to compensate for the delay in the local feedback loop.
