Abstract

A CT imaging system and method are disclosed. An ordinary CT scan is performed on the object to obtain an ordinary CT image, and then the region of interest is determined from the image. A CT scan of the region of interest is performed at multiple energy windows using a photon counting detector. A high-resolution image of the region of interest is then reconstructed. The photon counting detectors are used to collect photon counting projection data of multiple energy windows, so multiple basis functions can be decomposed, resulting in high energy spectrum discrimination and good numerical stability.
