[0036] In an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network of a wireless network operator domain, subscriber data for IMS subscribers is provisioned in a Home Subscriber Server (HSS). Specifically, for each subscriber, the provisioned data includes a "pointer" or identification to a billing address profile maintained in the HSS. The Charging Address Profile will include one or both of the following: an Event Charging Function (ECF) parameter that is the address of the relevant OCS in the operator domain; and the CDF address (e.g. FQDN) of the relevant CDF in the operator domain (possibly an ECF primary and secondary addresses of both CDF and CDF). Typically, postpaid subscribers are associated with offline charging and prepaid subscribers are associated with online charging, but online charging can also be used for postpaid subscribers eg to enable cost control.
