Problems solved by technology

The second disadvantage of this press roll is that the pattern tends to accumulate papermaking fibers due to the pressing during the rolling process and becomes dirty
In particular, some cavities can be blocked due to the accumulation of papermaking fibers 6
This results in a produced textured nonwoven comprising papermaking fibers of low quality and comprising "dark spots", the low quality meaning that the final textured nonwoven comprising papermaking fibers is not well perceived by the consumer

Embodiment Construction

[0038] Figure 5 is a schematic illustration of the positive pattern 10 of the press roll of the present invention. The positive pattern 10 comprises elementary elements 11 repeated along rows 20 and columns 21 over substantially the entire peripheral surface of the press roll. The repetition is regular except for a plurality of substantially longitudinally oriented regions 22 and transversely oriented regions 23 . Said zones have finite dimensions relative to the dimensions (length and width) of the press roll. They are randomly distributed on the outer peripheral surface of the press roll. This enables a plurality of arbitrary transverse and longitudinal threads to be defined on a textured nonwoven fabric comprising papermaking fibers, creating a cloth-like visible texture.

Abstract

A calendering roller used to manufacture textured nonwoven fabric comprising papermaking fibers (46), the calendering roller (40) comprising a positive pattern (10) that comprises: - a basic element (11) having a ring shape, the ring (12) defining an apex relatively to a center portion of the ring (12) defining a cavity (14) and a grinded surrounding zone (15), the ring (12) comprising at least one radial channel (16) putting in communication the cavity (14) and the grinded surrounding zone (15) so as to define a discontinuous calendering surface (13); and - a repetition of said basic element along multiple rows (20) and columns (21) substantially overall a peripheral surface of the calendering roller (40), the repetition being regular except for multiple substantially longitudinally (22) and transversally (23) oriented regions, said regions (22, 23) being of limited size with respect to a calendering roller size and randomly distributed so as to define multiple random longitudinal and transverse lines (62, 63) in the textured nonwoven fabric comprising papermaking fibers (46), generating a cloth-like visual texture.

Description

technical field [0001] One aspect of the present invention relates to a cloth-like textured nonwoven fabric comprising papermaking fibers. Another aspect of the invention relates to a method of making a cloth-like textured nonwoven fabric comprising papermaking fibers. Yet another aspect of the present invention relates to a press roll for making a cloth-like textured nonwoven fabric comprising papermaking fibers. Such cloth-like textured nonwoven fabrics comprising papermaking fibers have particular, but not exclusive application in the nonwoven fabrics comprising papermaking fibers industry. Cloth-like textured paper can be used for hygiene or household purposes. As a particular example, it can be used to manufacture tabletop range products such as napkins, tablecloths, placemats, doilies, coasters and small decorative napkins. Other examples are also possible, such as paper towels, toilet rolls, facial rolls, wipes, kitchen towel rolls, skin care or cleansing wipes, hand...
