The invention provides an automatic moisture detector which comprises a drying box device, a balance scale weighing device, a checking type drying weighing device, a conveying device and a controller. When the automatic moisture detector is used, the controller enables the drying box device to reach the preset temperature firstly, and drying media are led into the drying box device; then, the conveying device is controlled to put coal samples on the balance scale weighing device for being weighed and is controlled to put the coal samples into the drying box device to be dried, after preset time, the coal samples are put on the checking type drying weighing device to be weighed, the current mass value is obtained, the current mass value is compared with a last mass value, whether the difference is in a preset range or not is judged, and if not, the coal samples are put into the drying device to be dried continuously till the difference is in the preset range. Finally, the coal samples are discarded. Due to the fact that the temperature of the drying box device is adjusted, leading of the drying media into the drying box device, weighing, coal sample conveying and sample discarding are automatic, manual operation is avoided, time is saved, and efficiency is improved.
