[0509] Example 1: Properties of Laundry Soap Bars with and without Protease Inhibitors

[0510] Laundry soap bars were prepared according to the laundry soap bar preparation method described above and the composition is given in Table 1. In this experiment, laundry soap bars were prepared with and without protease inhibitors and with and without sodium formate. The laundry soap bars were tested using cleaning and stain removal and the enzyme stability / activity assays and results are shown in Tables 2 and 3. The physical properties of the laundry soap bars were also evaluated and the results are reported in Tables 4-7.

[0511] Table 1: Formulated Laundry Soap Bars

[0512] The total protease concentration was 0.016% by weight calculated as a percentage of enzyme protein to the total composition of the laundry soap bar. If used, the protease inhibitor is N-[(phenylmethoxy)carbonyl]glycyl-N-[2-hydroxy-1-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)methyl]-2-sulfoethyl ]-L-alaninamide sodium salt (1:...

[0533] Example 2: Properties of Laundry Soap Bars Containing Different Amounts of Sodium Formate

[0534] Laundry soap bars were prepared according to the laundry soap bar preparation method described above and the composition is given in Table 8. In this experiment, the amounts of glycerin, citric acid, and sodium formate were varied and the properties of laundry soap bars were investigated. Laundry soap bars were tested using cleaning and stain removal and the enzyme stability / activity assay and results are shown in Tables 9 and 10. The physical properties of the laundry soap bars were also evaluated and the results are reported in Tables 11-14.

[0535] Table 8: Formulated Laundry Soap Bars

[0536] The total protease concentration used was 0.016% by weight calculated as a percentage of enzyme protein to the total composition of the laundry soap bar. The protease inhibitor used was N-[(phenylmethoxy)carbonyl]glycyl-N-[2-hydroxy-1-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)methyl]-2-sulfoethyl]...

Abstract

The present invention relates to laundry soap bars with improved enzyme stability and to a process for preparing said laundry soap bars and to uses of the laundry soap bars.

Description

[0001] References to Sequence Listings [0002] This application includes a Sequence Listing in computer readable form, which is hereby incorporated by reference. field of invention [0003] The present invention relates to laundry soap bars with improved enzyme stability and to a process for preparing said laundry soap bars and uses of these laundry soap bars. Background of the invention [0004] The addition of enzymes, and especially proteases, to laundry soap bars is a well known feature to improve the removal of protein stains. Additionally, when formulating a laundry soap bar, a second non-protease enzyme (such as an amylase or a lipase) may also be included to improve detergency against other stains. However, during the production and subsequent long-term storage of these laundry soap bars, enzyme stability becomes an issue of significant importance. The activity of added enzymes can be affected by many factors, and one factor is the water content of the laundry soa...
