Abstract

A wireless sensor network clustering routing protocol based on residual energy and communication cost belongs to the field of wireless sensor network clustering routing protocols. All the nodes of the routing protocol are candidate cluster heads. A cluster head is selected from the candidate cluster heads. When all the nodes of each round have data to transmit and a sink node is under initial energy of a sensor node, the residual energy of the sensor node is estimated according to the clustering situation of each around. A cluster head selection algorithm is implemented by the sink node. In the cluster formation stage, the sink node sends clustering information to all the nodes in a network, wherein the clustering information includes whether a node is a cluster head or not and next-hop routing information of the cluster head when the node is a cluster head, and when a node is a member node, the clustering information indicates which node the cluster head node is. In the communication stage, the member node reports acquired data to the cluster head node, and the cluster head and the sink node communicate in a multi-hop mode.
