Abstract

Methods and systems are provided for detecting transient noise events in audio streams using primarily or solely incoming audio data. Such methods provide improved temporal resolution and are computationally efficient. The method and system described use some time-frequency representation of the audio signal as the basis for a prediction model to try to find distant transient noise events and interpret the true detection state as a Hidden Markov Model (HMM) in order to provide a prediction model for the transient noise event.
