Abstract

The method comprises the steps: receiving a positioning request that is initiated by a positioning application inside the terminal; detecting AP signals around the terminal; determining whether the positioning application belongs to a continuous positioning application; if the positioning application belongs to a continuous positioning application, determining whether positioning data of a detected AP exists in a cache and whether the positioning data is out of date; calculating a positioning result according to the positioning data of the AP in the cache if the positioning data exists and is not out of date; forwarding the positioning request and the detected AP signals to the positioning server if the positioning application does not belong to a continuous positioning application, the positioning data of the detected AP does not exist in the cache or the positioning data is out of date; receiving the positioning result calculated by the positioning server, and caching positioning data, inquired by the positioning server, of an AP close to the terminal; and returning the positioning result back to the positioning application.
