Mobile originated interactive menus via short messaging services

A method and apparatus for providing 2-way interactive short message system menus to a mobile device using text-based short messaging rather than WAP techniques. This provides the ability to provide WAP like services at a fraction of the cost of CSD. Mobile Originated Interactive Menus are implemented as a feature of a Short Message Service Center (SMSC). Each option guides either to the next menu level, or to a final action to be executed according to the path followed by the subscriber. Importantly, the mobile originated interactive menus use SMS communications instead of circuit switched data (CSD) (e.g., instead of WAP communications), thus leaving traffic channels available for voice calls. Interactive SMS menus allow service providers to offer their subscribers personalized messaging menus with multiple options for quick and easy access to Web-based content. Users may define the content and frequency they want, whether it is a scheduled delivery or on-demand. The interactive SMS menu options offer customers a simple-to-use technique and apparatus for checking, e.g., stock quotes, local weather, and / or other Web-based news and information when they want it. The interactive nature of the service allows the wireless network to poll the user for their next response, with multiple menued options offered, making it highly intuitive. Replacement of messages in TDMA and GSM mobile devices allow for heavy usage without filling up the user's phone buffer, i.e., prior messages may be overwritten, to assure that only the latest information is all that is being displayed and read. The flexibility of Interactive SMS Menus can allow service providers to define their own base offering of menus, depending upon their targeted customer segments.

Distributed immersive entertainment system

A multi-camera high-definition or standard-definition switched video signal is distributed from the Point of Capture (POC) using industry standard technology for broadband distribution such as fiber optic or satellite, to a Point Of Display (POD) where multiple video projectors or displays integrated with a digital light show and high-end audio are utilized to provide a totally immersive entertainment environment. That environment is controlled using a graphically based tool called the LightPiano™, and is then extended through the festival atmosphere in the Club Annex, where licensed merchandise, auctions, and swap meets are located. Online Instant Messaging, Short Message System (SMS) text messaging, Chat, and Fan Clubs generate additional content, which is sent back to the POD. There is extensive use of the Worldwide Web for both local and remote access to the chat, fan clubs, SMS and instant messaging systems, as well as for online access for customers to view scheduling, and purchase ticketing, webcasts and archive access. The Web is also used by the venue owner to manage the entire system for booking, data mining, scheduling, ticketing, webcasting, and facilities management. The Web interface combined with the power of the LightPiano makes this complex interrelated system relatively easy and intuitive to operate. It significantly lowers the cost of operation and makes the system scalable to a large network of POCs and PODs. It allows one POC to feed many PODs, enabling a truly global distributed, immersive entertainment environment.

Short message processing method, system and assembly program unit

The embodiment of the invention relates to a short message processing method, a short message system and an assembly program unit. The short message processing method comprises the following steps: receiving information of requesting for a short message, wherein the information of requesting for the short message comprises a short message template identifier and a user identifier; reading short message content configured and predefined by a short message template according to the short message template identifier and analyzing the read short message content to obtain fixed content and a variable replacement symbol; querying a database according to the variable replacement symbol and the user identifier to obtain a variable value, and replacing the corresponding variable replacement symbolwith the variable value; and assembling the fixed content and the variable replacement symbol replaced by the variable value into a new short message. The short message processing method, the short message processing system and the assembly program unit can realize the addition of new variable content to the prior short message content without modifying an application program, so that the cost canbe saved and a new short message notification service can be provided to a user.

Data Message Management System

This invention relates to a data message management system 10 and to methods of operating such a system. Data messages, such as e-mail and short message system (SMS) messages have become ubiquitous, but are difficult to manage and the currently un-administered nature of such messages has the effect of swamping instead of facilitating communication. The system 10 of this invention manages data messages 12 exchanged between normally un-connected message clients 14, 16 and includes a plurality of message originating clients 14 and at least one message handling server 26 that have been programmed for participation in the system. The addressee clients 16 need not necessarily be participants in the system. Each message originating client 14 is programmed with an outgoing message management program including a message routing program and user-selectable message handling rules to be attached to the outgoing data message 12. The message handling server 26 is programmed with a message management program including the message routing program and a rules management program, which interprets the message handling rule associated with data messages routed to the server in use and routes the data messages, using the message routing program, in accordance with the message handling rules associated with each data message. The message routing program is adapted to remain associated with the outgoing data message 12 and all data messages linked thereto (whether as a reply, a copy or a forwarded copy of such an outgoing data message) and to direct all such linked data messages to a participating message handling server 26 so that outgoing data messages 14 and all linked messages are routed through a participating message handling server where the rules management program is programmed to control the transmission of reply data messages to the originating message client in accordance with the message handling rules associated with the outgoing data message 14.

Short message service authenticated encryption system and method based on digital certificate

The invention relates to a short message service (SMS) authenticated encryption system and method based on a digital certificate. The SMS authenticated encryption system comprises an SMS authentication center, an authenticated mechanism SMS center and a mobile phone. A digital certificate management service unit of the SMS authentication center provides procedures generated by the unique digital certificate of the authenticated mechanism according to the user identification, thus ensuring the safety of the digital certificate. The digital certificate is used for safety of two-way SMS communication. In the invention, the way that a plurality of different receivers respectively carry out encrypted transmission according to own keys based on the SMS numbers can be realized by only installing an SMS authentication and encryption procedure in the common mobile phone as the SMS authentication and encryption client. The invention can authenticate the received SMS contents, ensure the sent contents not to be falsified and ensure the authenticity of the senders, has good confidentiality, changes less existing SMS systems, occupies less resources, is easy to realize and can be applied to such fields as financial transactions, etc.

Systems and methods for mobile payment

Mobile payment methods and systems using Short Message System (SMS) messages include a card distribution point with a plurality of mobile payment cards, each card having an initially concealed card code, an initially concealed confirmation number, and a plurality of initially concealed Transfer Authorization Numbers (TANs), a payor device, a payee device, a merchant device, and a mobile payment system server. The server is configured to receive deposit SMS messages, determine whether a card code matches a card code associated with an active mobile payment card, and when a valid card code is received, increase an account balance associated with the payor device based on a value of the card, associate a plurality of TANs with the payor device based on TANs associated with the card, and send a reply SMS message including a confirmation number, transfers code for receiving a transfer SMS message from a payor device having a payee device identifier, a payment amount, and a TAN, determine whether the TAN included with the transfer SMS message is associated with the payor device, determine whether or not there are sufficient funds to cover the payment amount in the account associated with the payor device, and when a valid TAN is received and there are sufficient funds, update the account balance associated with the payor device and an account balance associated with the payee device, disassociate the TAN from the payor device, and generate an account balance SMS message for the payor device and the payee device.
