Abstract

The invention discloses a breakage monitoring method for a milling tool, belonging to the field of monitoring of tool conditions. The breakage monitoring method comprises the following steps: S1, the three-phase currents of a spindle motor are selected as monitoring signals; the root-mean-square values of the monitoring signals are calculated and are subjected to slippage smoothness process to obtain smooth root-mean-square values which are taken as characteristic values for monitoring breakage of the milling tool; S2, a complete milling cycle is divided into three processes of cutting-in, stable cutting and cutting-out; then the processes of cutting-in, stable cutting and cutting-out are subdivided into multiple small sections with identical time spans; S3, the threshold values of each small section are jointly determined by the characteristic values of the last small section and threshold value coefficients; the threshold value coefficients are obtained by studying milling cycle data of multiple groups of tools under the condition that the tools are not broken; and S4, finally, the breakage of the tool is identified by comparing the threshold values of each small section with the characteristic values. The breakage monitoring method is not affected by change of cutting parameters; and the threshold value coefficients are study results based on a large amount of data, so that very high reliability is provided.
