[0014] The "worst case" conversion factor is usually too large for the execution time of most processors. In cases where the clock frequency depends on the voltage supplied to the clock generator (such as if the clock generator is a digital frequency locked loop (DFLL) or otherwise includes a voltage controlled oscillator), this may affect the leakage voltage of the power supply. In this case, the worst-case conversion factor will cause the frequency of the clock signal to be higher than necessary most of the time. This means that the clock generator will get a voltage from the power supply that is higher than necessary most of the time, which causes unnecessary waste of power.
