Abstract

The present disclosure provides a hybrid side member for an automobile, a method of manufacturing the same, and an automobile body. The hybrid side member may comprise: an extruded profile member comprising a continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic polymer having a heat distortion temperature of at least 200°C; and an end member comprising steel and attached to an end portion of the extruded profile member . The present disclosure also provides an automobile body including such a hybrid side sill and a method of manufacturing a hybrid side sill for an automobile. The manufacturing method comprises the steps of forming an extruded profile part comprising a continuous fibre-reinforced thermoplastic polymer having a heat distortion temperature of at least 200°C; and attaching an end part made of steel to an end of the extruded profile part steps on the section.
