Abstract

The present invention relates to the video display technology field, and makes efforts to solve the problem that the CIE 1931 standard three-primary colors cannot express most of high saturation visible colored light in the nature. A multiple primary color expression method of the nature composite colors is explored; and the transmission and the storage method compatible with the CIE 1931 standard three-primary colors is discussed. The method comprises the steps: (1) employing a polygon formed by the multiple primary color component signals for analysis; (2) employing a triangle formed by other primary colors for expression aiming at the composite colors which cannot be expressed by the CIE 1931; and (3) continuing the analysis of the difference value of the chrominance component and the brightness signals aiming at the composite color signals which cannot perform standard expression by the CIE 1931, and selecting two difference values with the minimum absolute values to form U and V color difference signals. The method compatible with the multiple primary color expansion color gamut is mainly applied to the video display occasion.
