Abstract

According to exemplary methods herein, a print job comprising an electronic document and job attributes having an imposition template is received into a marking device having a print engine using a standard color range and another colorant. The job's printed sheets are analyzed for standard color ranges and other colorants. The layout of the images of the plurality of pages of the electronic document on the printed sheet is determined, and the number of passes of the printed sheet through the print engine is determined based on the image requirements of each page on the printed sheet. User-selected instructions modify print instructions for selected pages on the sheet. The user-selected instructions include parameters for printing each page on the substrate associated with the number of passes of the printed sheet through the print engine and the use of standard color ranges and other colorants in the image.
