The method comprises the steps that the value of the altitude where the autocrane is located and the pressure value and the flow value at an oil pump outlet of the autocrane are acquired; engine external characteristic data are corrected according to the value of the altitude, and the load torque need is calculated according to the pressure value and the flow value; the maximum engine torque corresponding to the corrected engine external characteristic data is sought; and the load torque need is compared with the maximum engine torque, and if the maximum engine torque is smaller than the load torque need, an engine is controlled to increase the rotating speed. According to the method, the value of the current altitude and the load torque need are detected to adjust the power takeoff idling speed in real time, the suspended load need of the autocrane is met, and meanwhile the suspended load oil consumption is reduced.
