According to the design method, element modeling, model matching and pattern reconstruction are carried out on a blueprint pattern by utilizing a digital graphic image technology and a traditional pattern innovative design is realized on the basis of pattern parameterization. The main technology content comprises the following steps: establishing a pattern element model by utilizing a tension spline curve; extracting pattern elements in an image by utilizing a contour tracking algorithm; carrying out the model matching by utilizing a Hu matrix; processing a parameterized pattern obtained after the model matching and mapping model parameters to a target interval through utilizing a mapping function, so as to realize a pattern innovative design with an invariable framework; extracting a pattern framework through similar shape series and reconstructing the framework by using a parameter mapping method; and putting pattern elements on a new framework so as to realize a pattern innovative design with a variable framework. The method disclosed by the invention can be used for solving the bottleneck of the innovative design of the blueprint cloth pattern and a new way for inheriting and developing intangible cultural heritage, namely blueprint cloth, is explored.
