The invention discloses a wheel speed collection system and method for an airplane braking system, and the method comprises the following steps: S1, collecting a dual-redundancy wheel speed signal in a collection period; S2, converting the collected dual-redundancy wheel speed signal into two square wave signals, and respectively carrying out the counting; S3, respectively reading the two counting numbers, and determining whether the two counting numbers are the same or not through comparison: determining that the wheel signal collection is normal if the two counting numbers are the same, or else repeatedly carrying out the step S3, wherein the number n of repeated times of step S3 is n, and n is not greater than 10. The system comprises a dual-redundancy wheel speed signal collection module, a wheel speed signal conditioning module, a counting module, a reading module, a comparison module, a circulating module, and an obtaining module.
