Abstract

The light source includes multiple laser diodes or other light emitters. The beams from the light emitters are directed to provide n arrays of parallel beams that illuminate a target area with an array of spots. In some embodiments, the collimated light beams are miniaturized to form an array of spots. Such light sources are used to illuminate dynamically addressable focusing elements such as phase modulators, deformable mirrors and dynamically addressable lenses. Light projectors for various applications can combine the light sources described herein with dynamically addressable focusing elements to project defined light patterns.
