Embodiment 1

[0041] Large-scale potted cultivation of Indian purple leaf begonia (Begonia rex):

[0042] Provenance and its ornamental characters:

[0043] Indian Purple Leaf Begonia (B.rex) is the provenance of Purple Leaf Begonia (B.rex) distributed in India. It was introduced and cultivated in 1998 by Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences from Toyama Central Botanical Garden, Japan. The leaves of Indian purple-leaved begonia (B.rex) are brownish green, with silver-green circular stripes inlaid in the center. The leaves are large, 25-35cm long, 12-18cm wide, suitable for cultivation and viewing as large hall potted flowers.

[0044] Potted flower cultivation production environment regulation:

[0045] Indian purple-leaved begonia (B.rex) is distributed in the tropics and subtropics of India. It grows under closed evergreen broad-leaved forests and prefers a warm, humid and slightly shaded cultivation environment. Potted flower cultivation and production are covered w...

Embodiment 2

[0056] Large-scale potted cultivation of ‘Helen’ begonia (B.rex cv. ‘Helen Lewis’):

[0057] Provenance and its ornamental characters:

[0058] 'Helen' begonia (B.rex cv.'Helen Lewis') is a horticultural variety of the B.rex series. It was bred by Lewis from sexual hybrid progenies in 1948. Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences obtained it from Introduced and cultivated in Japan. 'Helen' begonia (B.rex cv.'Helen Lewis') has dark purple-red leaves with silver-green or light-purple ring-shaped markings in the center. The leaves are medium-sized, 16-22cm long and 10-15cm wide, suitable for large and medium-sized begonias. Hall potted plants or desk table potted plants for cultivation and viewing.

[0059] Potted flower cultivation production environment regulation:

[0060] ‘Helen’ begonia (B.rex cv. ‘Helen Lewis’) is a horticultural variety of the B.rex series of Begonia plants, which belong to the ecological type of tropical and subtropical shade plants. The...

Abstract

The invention relates to a large-scale potted flower cultivation method for begonias. According to the method, new plants are obtained through carrying out cutting propagation on begonia leaves, are planted in pots containing cultivation media in a fix-planting manner and are placed in a sunshine plate greenhouse or a plastic greenhouse, and cultivation is carried out under the environmental conditions that the temperature is 15 DEG C to 25 DEG C, the relative air humidity is 65% to 85%, and the lighting intensity is 20,000Lx to 30,000Lx. The invention provides an optimal cutting propagation scheme for the begonias, and the cutting-rooting seedling survival rate can reach 75% or more. New plants are obtained through carrying out cutting propagation on leaves of Indian begonia rex for 65 days, the rooting seedling survival rate is 87%, and new plants obtained after 100 days can be transplanted into pots for cultivation. Three and a half months after fix-planted potted cultivation, the plants are luxuriant in growth, standard potted flowers have the plant height of 45cm to 50cm and the crown breadth of 60cm to 80cm and can be purchased and sold for ornament, and the annual yield per square meter is 60 pots.

Description

[0001] Technical field: [0002] The invention belongs to the field of biological technology, and in particular relates to the cultivation and conservation of Begonia plants and the intensive blade cutting propagation technology. [0003] Background technique: [0004] There are more than 1,600 species of Begonia L. plants in the world, which are widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions, and are also distributed in temperate regions. China is one of the countries with rich natural distribution of Begonia plant species. There are 224 known and published species, of which 197 species are unique to China, accounting for about 87.9% of the species distributed in China. Yunnan is located in the southwestern border of China, and is extremely rich in plant species, especially Begonias. There are 110 known and published species, accounting for about 49.1% of the natural distribution species in China, of which 74 species are unique to Yunnan. [0005] Begonias have gorgeo...
