The wireless network system separately deploys at least two APs in a coverage area of each wireless AP, starts any AP in the at least two APs as a primary AP to provide a wireless access service, and starts at least one AP other than the primary AP in the at least two APs as a standby AP. The method comprises the following steps: the standby AP receives a wireless frame; and if the standby AP does not receive a target wireless frame within the preset time, the standby AP provides the wireless access service. According to the technical scheme provided by the embodiment of the invention, the standby AP monitors the wireless frame of the primary AP, and thus the standby AP can monitor the working state of the primary AP, and as the wireless frame has a relatively short transmitting cycle, the preset time for AP fault determination can be set to a shorter duration compared with a heartbeat message mode; and thus, after the primary AP has faults, the time consumed for starting the standby AP is relatively short, and relatively good user experience can be achieved.
