The optical fibre repeater comprises an analog / digital conversion board, a digital signal board and an optical interface; the analog / digital conversion board is used for being responsible for mutual conversion between an analog signal and a digital signal; the digital signal board is used for being responsible for digital signal processing and transmission; the optical interface is connected with the digital signal board; the analog / digital conversion board is provided with a first SATA interface; the digital signal board is provided with a second SATA interface; the first SATA interface is connected with the second SATA interface through a SATA connection line; and thus, transmission of data between the analog / digital conversion board and the digital signal board is realized. By means of the optical fibre repeater and the data transmission method thereof disclosed by the invention, the transmission speed is rapid; transmission is reliable; the cost is low; and thus, requirements of access end applications of the optical fibre repeater are satisfied.
