Abstract

The invention discloses an efficient image compression algorithm. The method comprises the following steps: inputting an image and outputting compressed bit stream; step one, performing wavelet transform on the image to generate a wavelet coefficient set with a pyramid structure; and step two, performing bit hierarchical coding on the image after the wavelet transform. The compression speed of the algorithm disclosed by the invention is equivalent to that of the SPIHT algorithm, and the image quality PSNR is 0.2-0.4dB higher than the SPIHT under the same compression ratio. Under the relative low complexity situation, the algorithm disclosed by the invention has the image compression efficiency equivalent to the SPIHTwAAC algorithm and the JEPG2000 algorithm. The image compression algorithm disclosed by the invention has relative low complexity and high compression rate, and suitable for the popularization and application.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an efficient image compression algorithm, in particular to an image compression algorithm with relatively low complexity and high compression rate. Background technique [0002] Image compression algorithm has a wide range of social application value. There are two main types of image compression algorithms at present: compression algorithms based on discrete Fourier changes (such as JPEG), and compression algorithms based on discrete wavelet changes (such as SPIHTwAAC, JPEG2000). The compression algorithm based on discrete Fourier transform has low complexity and fast compression rate, but low compression efficiency. The compression algorithm based on discrete wavelet transform has high compression efficiency, but high complexity. Contents of the invention [0003] The purpose of the present invention is to overcome the defect existing in the prior art, provide a kind of high-efficiency image compression algorithm, this al...
