Abstract

The present disclosure teaches a novel exercise device. The device does not generate load momentum. The device is based on elastic torque sensors connected in series in series and incorporates an intelligent servo drive with reduction gears to control a variable speed rotary motor shaft. The combination of motor, gear reducer, spring, angle measurement sensor, and intelligent motor controller is the basic series elastic actuator for exercise equipment. The exercise device also includes a load transfer mechanism for providing an interface between the user and the torque sensor. The device allows isokinetic, isometric, isotonic and variable force exercise modes without hardware configuration.
