The present invention provides a method for controlling data forwarding of an ONU (Optical Network Unit) in a PON (Passive Optical Network) system and a corresponding device. The method comprises: creating a management entity in an ONU, wherein the management entity supports management maintenance for a data forwarding rule; and performing forwarding management for uplink and downlink data by theONU according to the data forwarding rule. An OLT can perform management configuration of the data forwarding rule for the management entity in the ONU according to a management agreement, for example, the OLT can extend an OMCI (Ont Management and Control Interface) agreement message to indicate the ONU to configure a corresponding management entity and generate and maintain a forwarding rule table.
