Embodiment Construction

[0013] figure 1 and figure 2 The reference numeral 1 in generally designates an electric door lock assembly (hereinafter referred to as electric door lock assembly 1 ) coupled to a closure panel 2 (eg, a door) of the motor vehicle 3 . However, again, the electric door lock assembly 1 may equally be coupled to any kind of closure device of the motor vehicle 3, such as, but not limited to, a trunk lid or a hatch.

[0014] refer to figure 1 , the electric door lock assembly 1 is electrically connected to the main power source 4 of the motor vehicle 3 through an electrical connection element 5 such as a power cable, such as a main battery providing a 12V battery voltage Vbatt (the main power source 4 may also include different electrical energy sources in the motor vehicle 3 such as alternator).

[0015] The electric door lock assembly 1 includes an actuation group 6 including an electric motor 6d operable to control the actuation of the door 2 (or vehicle closure in general)....

Abstract

An e-latch with motor reset is provided. An e-latch assembly and method for operating for an e-latch of a closure panel of a vehicle, the closure panel operable between an open state and a closed state. The e-latch assembly is configured to control via an open command to operate an electric motor of the e-latch assembly in order to change a state of the electric motor during a latch release operation from a motor home position to a motor open position; and to control via a a reset command to change the state from the motor open position to the motor home position by controlling the reset command only when one or more sensors indicate a position of at least one of the closure panel or a ratchet or a pawl of the e-latch assembly reflecting the closure panel returning from the open state to the closed state.

Description

technical field [0001] The present application relates to the field of door locks, and more particularly to the field of door locks such as may be employed in automotive equipment. Background technique [0002] It is known to provide electrical locks in motor vehicles, eg for controlling the opening and closing of side doors. [0003] One defining characteristic of an electric door lock (E-latch) is that it does not have a mechanical linkage to an exterior or interior door handle. Instead, the door is released by the actuator in response to an electrical signal from the handle. Electric door locks typically include a ratchet that can be selectively rotated relative to a striker fixed to the doorpost to lock and unlock the door. The electric door lock includes a pawl that selectively engages the ratchet to prevent the ratchet from rotating. Electric door locks include an electric motor electrically connected to the vehicle's mains power source (eg, to the vehicle's 12V bat...
