There is provided a mechanism for determining the frequency location of a primary cell (PCell) for a wireless device in a carrier aggregation supported communication network having access to a set of low frequency bands and a set of high frequency bands . The method is executed by a network node. The method includes obtaining an uplink load level for the group of low frequency bands. The method includes obtaining a path loss level between a network node and a wireless device served by a communication network. The method includes selecting, from the acquired uplink load level and path loss level, in which one of the low-band group and the high-band group the frequency location of the PCell for the wireless device is placed.
