Abstract

The invention relates to a wireless sensor network consistency time synchronization method for reducing network traffic, belonging to the field of wireless networks. The method aims at a clustering wireless sensor network and divides a synchronization process into three steps, i.e., first time synchronization within clusters, time synchronization between the clusters, and time resynchronization within the clusters. The first synchronization within the clusters and the resynchronization within the clusters use a maximum consistency time synchronization method and only need four-time and two-time communications respectively; in the synchronization between the clusters, all cluster heads are synchronized by adopting a maximum consistency method, and the exchange of cluster head messages is implemented by means of the message forwarding of gateway nodes. Therefore, in the process of synchronization between the clusters, common nodes in the clusters do not need communication; compared withthe existing method which requires nodes in the clusters to broadcast or reply to messages in each period, the wireless sensor network consistency time synchronization method can effectively reduce the communication traffic between the nodes and accelerate the convergence speed in a synchronization process, thus prolonging the network lifetime of the nodes.
