The method comprises the following steps: judging whether contentdata need to be encrypted according to a content transmission request sent by the content providing terminal; if the content data need to be encrypted, generating an encryption key in response to a key acquisition request sent by the content providing terminal; returning the encryption key to the content providing terminal, so that the content providing terminal encrypts the content data by usingthe encryption key; synchronizing the encryption key to a digital copyright system; receiving encrypted content data sent by the content providing terminal; requesting the encryption key from the digital copyright system, and decrypting the encrypted data contents by using the encryption key; and issuing the decrypted content data on a content distribution network. By adoption of the secure content transmission method and system disclosed by the invention, the security problem of a third party content provider to transmit contents to the content management system is solved, and the requirements of the content copyright owner for digital copyright protection are satisfied.
