Abstract

The application discloses a hearing device comprising an automatic power switching. The device includes an implantable prosthetic system (16) comprising a receiver coil (24), and an external audio processor device (4). The external audio processor device includes a microphone (36) configured to transform a received sound (34) into an electrical input signal, a signal processor (28) configured to process the electrical input signal into a processed electrical data signal (20), a transmitter coil (22) configured to inductively transmit data signals (20) and / or power, across the skin (10) of a hearing device user, to the receiver coil (24), and a detection device configured to detect if the external audio processor device (4) or the transmitter coil is within a predefined distance from the implantable prosthetic system (16) or to detect if a coupling coefficient between the transmitter coil (22) and a receiver coil (24) is within a predefined value range.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to hearing devices comprising implantable prosthetic systems such as implantable percutaneous bone conduction hearing aids. More specifically, the present invention relates to a bone conduction hearing aid disclosing an implantable prosthetic system configured to receive its operating energy from an external power source using a radio frequency link. Background technique [0002] The medical device industry produces a variety of electronic and mechanical devices used to treat medical conditions of patients. Depending on the medical condition, the medical device may be surgically implanted or externally connected to the patient for treatment. [0003] Implantable medical devices are currently commonly used to treat patients suffering from a number of different diseases. One type of implantable medical device is the bone conduction hearing aid. Bone conduction hearing aids work by converting sound signals into mechanical ...
