The invention discloses an environmental protection bus scheme based on existing roads. One or more buses drive on each road. Corresponding stations, vehicle frequency and vehicle size are reasonablyset to ensure short waiting time of passengers at a station and vehicle occupancy. Through reasonable layout inside a bus and methods to get on and off, the bus travel time of passengers can be greatly saved. A turntable is set at the center of the junction of intersections to form an arc. Two or more buses come in and out of the arc of the intersections around the turntable. Stations are set at the intersection arc in junction with roads which are not passed by buses, such as A station of an intersection. Passengers who need to transfer get off a bus at the station, and then transfer to a busof a new route at the station. Passengers who need to go in the opposite direction of the new route get off at a B station of the intersection and transfer at the station, wherein the B station is opposite to the A station and is another junction of the intersection arc and the road. The problems of slow and difficult bus travel and large emissions of motor vehicle exhaust are solved. Conditionsare provided for creating environmentally friendly habitable cities.
