[0054] figure 1 A computed tomography system 1 according to the invention is shown by way of example and in rough diagram form, comprising a user terminal 20 and a computed tomography apparatus 2 . The computed tomography system 1 is designed to carry out the method for characterizing plaques according to the invention. The computed tomography system 2 includes a patient table 12 for positioning a patient 10 as an examination object, which is displaceable along the system axis 6 . The system axis 6 , referred to below as the z-axis, can be moved together with the patient 10 into the measurement region. The apparatus also comprises a gantry 3 comprising a source-detector-arrangement 4 , 5 which is rotatably positioned about a system axis 6 . The source-detector-arrangement 4, 5 comprises an X-ray source 5 and a quantum counting detector 4, which are aligned facing each other so that when in operation, the The X-rays emitted by the focal spot hit the detector 4 . The X-ray ...

Abstract

The invention relates to characterisation of plague. A method is for the characterization of plaques (LP, FP, CP) in a region of interest inside an examination subject (10) by way of a plurality of image data sets (BDLE, BDHE). The image data sets(BDLE, BDHE) have been reconstructed from a plurality of projection data sets, which have been acquired via a CT device using different X-ray energy spectra. The method includes: acquiring the image data sets (BDLE, BDHE), which include a plurality of pixels. Spectral parameter values (SP1, SP2) are acquired on a pixel by pixel basis using at least two image data sets (BDLE, BDHE). Character parameter values (CP) are then acquired on a pixel by pixel basis to characterize plaques (LP, FP, CP) on the basis of the spectral parameter values (SP1, SP2). An analysis unit (25) and a computed tomography system (1) are also disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for characterizing plaque, an analysis device and a computer tomography system. Background technique [0002] Vascular disease represents a growing medical challenge in an increasingly aging population. Atherosclerosis is characterized by, for example, plaques in blood vessels, especially coronary arteries. If the plaque becomes detached from the blood vessel wall, this is called "plaque rupture." If there is a plaque rupture in a coronary artery, this can cause the blood vessel to occlude, leading to a heart attack. [0003] There are indications that plaque composition and plaque morphology are factors that allow statements about plaque risk to be made and thus can be used to predict the likelihood of rupture. For example, lipid plaques were rated as particularly risky for rupture; calcified plaques, on the other hand, were more likely to represent the final stable stage of coronary heart disease. Therefore, the ...
