The warning method includes steps of acquiring water quality parameters, receiving the water quality parameters by the aid of a microcontroller and counting and monitoring states of the filter elements of the water purifiers according to the water quality parameters; receiving the states, which are monitored by the microcontroller, of the filter elements of the water purifiers by the aid of a subserver and forwarding the states of the filter elements of the water purifiers to a remote server;receiving the water quality parameters, finished water improvement values, filter cumulative time and total filtered water volumes of each water purifier by the aid of the remote server, acquiring water hardness parameters according to received data, searching filter element service life algorithms from preset filter element service life algorithm tables and issuing the corresponding filter element service life algorithms to the microcontroller. The filter element service life algorithms correspond to the water hardness parameters. The warning method and the warning system have the advantagesthat the filter element service life algorithms for each water purifier can be updated by the remote server in real time; water quality change in different regions and different seasons is monitored and is combined with the use states of the filter elements, the filter element algorithms can be updated in real time, and accordingly the service lives and use of the filter elements of the water purifiers are close to practical use conditions.
