Abstract

The invention relates to an alternating current circuit breaker which comprises a double-split reactor and two shut-off devices. After one end of one winding of the double-split reactor and one end ofthe other winding of the double-split reactor are connected in parallel, and the other ends are connected in series with two shut-off devices. The shut-off devices share the same structure and are connected in parallel. Each shut-off device comprises a fast mechanical switch, a fully-controlled solid-state switch module, a thyristor module and a lightning arrester, and the fast mechanical switchis connected in series with the fully-controlled solid-state switch module, and then is connected in parallel with the thyristor module and the lightning arrester. The double-split reactor realizes balanced distribution of alternating current. Through the combination of the fast mechanical switches, the fully-controlled solid-state switches and the thyristors, reliable breaking of fault current isrealized. When a power grid is in steady state operation, the circuit breaker has low impedance and has little impact on the power grid. When the power grid is short-circuited, reliable breaking of the fault current is realized. The circuit breaker has strong breaking capacity, which effectively improves the safety and reliability of the operation of the power grid.
