Breaking capacity or interrupting rating is the current that a fuse, circuit breaker, or other electrical apparatus is able to interrupt without being destroyed or causing an electric arc with unacceptable duration. The prospective short-circuit current which can occur under short circuit conditions should not exceed the rated breaking capacity of the apparatus, otherwise breaking of the current cannot be guaranteed. The current breaking capacity corresponds to a certain voltage, so an electrical apparatus may have more than one breaking capacity current, according to the actual operating voltage. The invention provides a circuit breaker breaking capacity evaluation method based on a full current equivalence principle, which belongs to the field of power grid safety stability and control. A concept of a full current effective value is introduced to evaluate the energy released by arcs of the circuit breaker during an arc extinguishing process; when short circuit happens to the power system, the short circuit current contains a periodic component and a DC component, a short circuit point DC component decay time constant in an actual operation working condition is solved; if the constant exceeds a circuit breaker standard decay time constant, evaluation on the circuit breaker short circuit current breaking capacity is carried out through a full current effective value equivalence principle in the circuit breaker actual operation working condition and a standard operation working condition; and finally, through comparing the circuit breaker breaking capacity and the short circuit current in the actual working condition, risk points existing in operation of the power grid are found out. Method of operating a wind turbine plant

A method of operating a wind turbine plant is provided. Such a wind turbine plant comprises at least one transmission branch comprising a plurality of wind turbine generators and coupled to an electrical grid at a point of common coupling through at least one circuit breaker comprising a breaking capacity. The method comprises monitoring the electrical grid for a low voltage fault event; and if a low voltage fault event is detected: calculating a grid short circuit strength, determining a short circuit current limit if the grid short circuit strength requires an initial fault current contribution which exceeds the breaking capacity of the circuit breaker to be passed through the circuit breaker, determining a maximum fault current contribution based on the short circuit current limit and operating the wind turbine generators to provide to the electrical grid the maximum fault current contribution.
