Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and device for setting transmitting power of a communication system, wherein the method includes: selecting one channel from a plurality of channels as a target channel for communication; and setting the transmitting power of the communication system to be maximum transmitting power corresponding to the target channel according to preset communication parameters, the preset communication parameters including the maximum transmitting power of each of the plurality of channels. By implementation of the embodiments of the present invention, frequency band resources can be fully used, and the transmitting power can be increased as much as possible without exceeding requirements of regulations on transmitting power and spectrum leakage.
