Abstract

An optical probe system is disclosed that enables high speed, high precision and high resolution 3D digitization of engineering objects. 3D dimensional data of engineering objects is measured by an optical coherence tomography system using a swept light source with improved speed, spatial resolution, and depth range. Also disclosed is a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) capable of performing high-speed, high-resolution, and non-contact measurements on engineering objects. The mechanical probe in the touch probe of a traditional CMM is replaced with an optical probe with reconfigurable diameter and length. The distance between the center of the optical probe and the measuring probe is adjusted to be able to quickly adapt to the height of the object to be measured, so that the one-dimensional movement of the probe is avoided and the efficiency is greatly improved.
