The method comprises the steps of building magnetic induction intensity of the grounding network to determine a grounding network structure; injecting a pilot-frequency sine excitation current to the grounding network, and acquiring data by a wireless electromagnetic signal acquisition device; building a diagnosis model by a process according to a probability density comparison method by combining the measured and acquired data of the grounding network structure; and automatically identifying a corrosion fault of the grounding network by a terminal processor and performing early warning. The system comprises a grounding network structure detection module, the wireless electromagnetic signal acquisition device and the terminal processor, wherein the grounding network structure detection module is used for determining the grounding network structure, the wireless electromagnetic signal acquisition device is used for acquiring an electromagnetic induction signal sequence, and the terminal processor is used for building the corrosion diagnosis model and judging a corrosion state of the grounding network to be detected. By the method, the requirement of detection diagnosis of a large-scale substation grounding network without evacuation can be solved, and the diagnosis method which can be used for more accurately and more timely judging an expansion fault of the grounding network without forecasting the grounding network structure and early warning is performed in advance is proposed.
