Abstract

The invention provides an electrophoretic display with a color displaying effect. The electrophoretic display sequentially comprises a transparent front plate, an electrophoretic displaying layer anda back plate from outside to inside; and the transparent front plate and the back plate are connected through a circuit to apply electric signals to the two ends of the electrophoretic displaying layer. The electrophoretic display is characterized in that excitation light sources are further arranged on the peripheral sides of the transparent front plate and the electrophoretic displaying layer and used for irradiating excitation light to the electrophoretic displaying layer; the electrophoretic displaying layer is internally provided with electrophoretic liquid and one or more types of chromotropic electrophoretic particles dispersed in the electrophoretic liquid; the chromotropic electrophoretic particles comprise an excited state and an unexcited state, and under excitation of the excitation light sources, the chromotropic electrophoretic particles are in the excited state and display the color different from that of the unexcited state; and a protective layer is further arranged onthe outer side of the transparent front plate, and the light transmittance of the protective layer to the excitation light sources is smaller than 20%. The electrophoretic display has the good colordisplaying effect.
