The invention discloses an insulating fire-extinguishing agent for a high-temperature oil fire of a transformer and an application method thereof. The insulating fire-extinguishing agent comprises thefollowing components: 0.5% to 10% by weight of a strong-expansion surface covering agent, 0.5 to 30% by weight of an anti-high-temperature evaporant, 5% to 50% by weight of an oil-in-water aqua anti-reburning agent, and 15 to 50% by weight of water. In use, the fire-extinguishing agent is mixed with water according to a mixing ratio of 0.1% to 6%; and water mist with droplet diameter in a range of 300-900 [mu]m and droplet flow rate of 1.0 to 3.0 L / m<2>.min is used for outdoor wind-resistant electriferous fire extinguishing. The insulating fire-extinguishing agent of the invention has the characteristics that the agent can effectively go deep into the high-temperature oil fire for fire extinguishing, is capable of rapidly spreading to cut off oxygen so as to realize fire extinguishing, and forms an anti-reburning barrier layer which realizes coating of transformer oil with fire-extinguishing water aqua; and the insulating fire-extinguishing agent effectively extinguishes the oil fireof the transformer and can prevent re-burning.
