In particular, for equalizer filters (or equalization filters), the offset between the current Center of Filter (COF) value and the nominal COF value is used as a measure of the clock phase correction produced by the adaptive equalization process . In some embodiments, COF may be defined as a function of two selected tap weights or equal to selected tap weights. The tap weights of the equalizer filter are adjusted to reduce the offset, for example by interpolating / extrapolating the selected tap weights based on the offset.
