Embodiment Construction

[0025] Reference will now be made in detail to embodiments of the inventive concept, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. In the following detailed description, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the inventive concept. It is understood, however, that one skilled in the art may practice the inventive concepts without these specific details. In other instances, well-known methods, procedures, components, circuits, and networks have not been described in detail so as not to unnecessarily obscure aspects of the embodiments.

[0026] It will be understood that, although the terms first, second etc. may be used herein to describe various elements, these elements should not be limited by these terms. These terms are only used to distinguish one element from another. For example, a first module could be called a second module, and similarly, a second module could be called a first module, without departi...

Abstract

A transcoder is disclosed. The transcoder may include a buffer for storing input encoded data. An index mapper may map an input dictionary to an output dictionary. The current encoding buffer may store modified current encoded data, which may be responsive to input encoded data, the input dictionary, and a mapping from the input dictionary to the output dictionary. The previous encoding buffer maystore modified previous encoded data, which may be responsive to input encoded data, the input dictionary, and a mapping from the input dictionary to the output dictionary. A rule evaluator may generate an output stream in response to the modified current encoded data in the current encoding buffer, the modified previous encoded data in the previous encoding buffer, and a transcoding rule.

Description

[0001] relevant application data [0002] This application claims U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 16 / 820,665, filed March 16, 2020, U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 834,900, filed April 16, 2019, U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 834,900, filed December 9, 2019 Application Serial No. 62 / 945,877 and the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 945,883, filed December 9, 2019, are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety for all purposes. technical field [0003] The inventive concepts relate generally to storage devices, and more particularly to transcoding data within storage devices. Background technique [0004] Storage devices such as solid-state drives (SSDs) can store relatively large amounts of data. The host processor can request data from the SSD to perform operations on the data. Depending on the particular architecture connecting the host processor and SSD, sending data to the host proc...
