Embodiment Construction

[0078] see figure 1 , shows a vessel 10 equipped with a device 1 according to an embodiment of the invention. The device 1 is used for setting a monopile 4 with a longitudinal axis 40 into a water bottom 5 . Components to be placed may be provided on the working deck of the vessel 10 , such as transition pieces 6 and monopiles 4 . The working deck of the vessel 10 also supports lifting means in the form of a crane 7 arranged pivotably about a vertical axis on a base 72 . The crane 7 is provided with a hoisting cable 70 and at the free outer end of the hoisting cable is provided with a hoisting tackle 71 with a hook from which the monopile 4 can be lifted in use at a lifting point 46 provided at the upper end of the monopile 4. Lifting block suspension.

[0079] The vessel 10 is equipped with a dynamic positioning and / or mooring system known per se (not shown).

Abstract

Described is a device for providing a sizeable, slender object having a longitudinal direction into an underwater bottom from a deck of a vessel. The device comprises a lifting means configured to take up the object at a lifting point thereof and position it on the underwater bottom; an upending tool connected to an edge of the vessel and configured to engage a first circumferential part of the object suspended from the lifting means and provide a pivot around which the object can be upended; and a gripping tool connected to an edge of the vessel and configured to engage a second circumferential part of the object suspended from the lifting means, whereby the first and second circumferential parts are optionally spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the object. The gripping tool comprises an actuator system configured to act on at least one of the upending tool and the gripping tool and control movements of at least one of the first and the second circumferential parts, relative to the vessel. A method using the device is also described.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a device and a method for placing a relatively large elongated object with a longitudinal direction from the deck of a vessel into the water bottom. The invention relates in particular to a device and a method for placing a monopile of a wind turbine from the deck of a vessel, in particular a floating vessel, into the water bottom. Background technique [0002] The invention will be described with reference to an offshore wind turbine. However, reference to such a wind turbine does not mean that the invention is limited thereto, and the apparatus and method may be applied to any other relatively large elongated objects such as other offshore infrastructure, jetties, radar and other towers, etc. ) set into the bottom. [0003] The foundations of offshore wind turbines often have an elongated design due to the height difference to the water bottom that has to be bridged. A frequently used foundation of a wind turbine c...
