The method comprises the steps that in response to the fact that an application on a client side is started, the client side obtains a client label pre-stored locally and obtains a condition label associated with a function hot update file of the application from a server in communication connection with the client side; the client determines whether the client label is matched with the condition label or not; and in response to determining that the client label matches the condition label, the client obtains the function hot update file from the server and updates the application with the function hot update file. According to the method and the related equipment, the function hot update file conforming to the own use habit can be pushed to the user, the update file is not downloaded in total, and the authority control of the client is not influenced.
