Problems solved by technology

This poses some challenges to 5G systems as several factors may affect QoS performance such as radio coverage, 3GPP network node (UPF / RAN / UE) resources and transport network
While 5GS QoS notification control is supported in 5G-AN to monitor GBR QoS flow status in 5G-AN, this mechanism only supports Guaranteed Flow Bit Rate (“GFBR”) monitoring

Embodiment Construction

[0025] As will be understood by those skilled in the art, aspects of the embodiments may be embodied as a system, apparatus, method or program product. Accordingly, an embodiment may take the form of an entirely hardware embodiment, an entirely software embodiment (including firmware, resident software, microcode, etc.), or an embodiment combining software and hardware aspects.

[0026] For example, the disclosed embodiments may be implemented as hardware circuits comprising custom very large scale integration ("VLSI") circuits or gate arrays, off-the-shelf semiconductors such as logic chips, transistors, or other discrete components. The disclosed embodiments may also be implemented in programmable hardware devices such as field programmable gate arrays, programmable array logic, programmable logic devices, and the like. As another example, the disclosed embodiments may comprise one or more physical or logical blocks of executable code which may, for example, be organized as ...

Abstract

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for monitoring a QoS parameter. One apparatus (400) includes a processor (405) and a transceiver (425) that receives (1105) an instruction to monitor aQoS parameter for a data connection of a remote unit. The processor (405) modifies (1110) a downlink packet to include an indication for a packet delivery report. The transceiver receives (1115) a packet delivery report in response to delivery of the downlink packet to the remote unit and the processor (405) determines (1120) the QoS parameter based on delivery information of the downlink packet.
