Firstly, the average ash content of a coal seam of a to-be-gasified area is obtained through data or a detected coal sample, then the thickness of ash naturally generated after gasification is calculated through the height of the coal seam, pressure testing is conducted on the ash generated after coal sample simulation gasification, therefore the ash content compression ratio of the to-be-gasified area is obtained through simulation, and finally, according to the coal seam thickness, the coal seam average ash content, the actual overlying rock pressure and the ash content compression ratio, the actual coal underground gasification mining thickness is calculated. The method is simple in calculation steps and more in line with the actual situation, the precision of the overlying strata fracture development height and the surface subsidence prediction result is effectively improved, safe gasification mining of coal resources under buildings and water bodies is guaranteed, and the method has a very strong guiding effect on actual work.
