Embodiment Construction

[0022] The present invention relates to the measurement of the flow rate of a fluid flowing in a pipeline by means of an electromagnetic flowmeter installed downstream of a bend in the pipeline. Typically, an electromagnetic flowmeter consists of a conduit lined with a liner / bushing or insulating tube carrying a fluid, with two solenoid coils on the top and bottom of the insulating tube or bushing, and one inserted into the side of the bushing. The electrodes are countered for measurements and the magnetic cover encloses all elements containing the generated magnetic field and ensures a stronger magnetic field for interaction with the fluid. When the coil is energized, an electromotive force (EMF) is induced in the fluid. By measuring this EMF using electrodes, the flow rate is estimated. EMF divided by speed is the calibration factor for a given flow meter. Calibration factors are obtained under ideal laboratory conditions using a straight section of tubing upstream of the ...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a An electromagnetic flowmeter for measuring flow of fluid flowing in a conduit of the electromagnetic flowmeter, wherein the electromagnetic flowmeter comprises: a coil attached to an inner surface of the conduit; a movable magnetic ring having segments of magnetic materials that is magnetically coupled with the coil to generate an electromagnetic field to interact with the fluid flowing through the conduit wherein the conduit is provided with an insulating liner. A pair of electrodes mounted on the conduit for measuring potential difference generated by the interaction of the electromagnetic field in the fluid. Wherein the segments of magnetic materials are having varying magnetic properties arranged to have an orderly varying electromagnetic field in the conduit adjustable by rotating the movable magnetic ring. The movable magnetic ring is positioned between the at least one coil and the insulating liner.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to an electromagnetic flowmeter, and more particularly to an electromagnetic flowmeter assembly having a movable ring. Background technique [0002] Measurement of the flow of fluid through a conduit or pipe can be done in various ways like using a magnetic flow meter. [0003] Typical electromagnetic flowmeters use Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. An electromagnetic field is applied within the flow tube of the flow of fluid having a certain level of conductivity. The electromotive force (EMF) induced due to the interaction of the electromagnetic field with the fluid molecules (ions in the fluid) is measured using electrodes placed on the side walls of the pipe. The measured EMF is directly proportional to flow, and is therefore used to measure flow rate. While magnetic flowmeters are attractive in view of their precise and simple construction, the conditions of the location where the magnetic flowm...
