Abstract

The invention is based on the idea of providing a pipe flange connecting device (3) connectively attachable to a first pipe (1) of a first pipe flange (1a), with a jaw (6) engaging a second pipe flange (2) of a second pipe (2). The jaw (6) is fixed to a spindle (5) which can be retracted by a translating arrangement in order to pull a second pipe flange (2a) against a first pipe flange (1a). More specifically, the translating arrangement is configured such that, when the pipes (1, 2) with flanges are connected and the jaw (6) is retracted, a force exerted on the jaw (6) towards the extended position is transmitted against a mechanical stop via the translating arrangement. Furthermore, the translating arrangement is biased such that the translating arrangement must act on the bias in order to project the jaw and release the pipes (1, 2) with flanges coupled to each other.
