A user-wearable optical article includes an optical substrate and an interference coating. The interference coating may be disposed on the substrate and may be configured to selectively reflect incident light of at least one wavelength range in the near infrared spectrum. A peak reflectance measured in a substantially normal direction of the optical article may be at least 70%. An eyewear including the optical article and a method for producing the optical article are also disclosed. The method may include providing an optical substrate and providing an interference coating disposed on the optical substrate. The interference coating may selectively reflect light of the incident light in at least one wavelength range in the near infrared spectrum. The peak reflectance may be at least 70%, and the interference coating has an average reflectance in the visible range of less than 1.5%.
