A network management system serves as an important component of a network infrastructure and plays an important role in IP network operation and maintenance in China. In order to solve the problem of performance monitoring of network management and make up for the defects of an existing network management system in the aspect of performance management, the invention finally realizes an IP network measurement probe conforming to the SNMP standard, and the IP network measurement probe can be used as a portable device to work independently to measure network performance on an end-to-end path; the system can also serve as a measurement agent to be deployed in a measurement domain and communicate with a management center through an SNMP to complete monitoring and fault diagnosis of a large-scale IP network; besides, the system is widely distributed in the access layer, the convergence layer and the core layer of the network and is combined with an existing network management system, so that a real comprehensive network management with performance network management can be well constructed, the problem of a network communication situation map can be well solved and realized, and decision support is provided for network management personnel.
